Welcome to Costpoint 8.2


Deltek is excited to introduce you to Costpoint 8.2, which includes new features and new options for you and your company. Coinciding with the launch of Costpoint 8.2 in June 2023, Deltek will move to a Continuous Delivery release methodology.Costpoint 8.2 will become Deltek’s Innovation Release, delivering minor enhancements and new features on a continuous basis. Costpoint 8.1 will move into Maintenance Support (see Costpoint Product Lifecycle Phases) and will remain in Maintenance Support through the end of 2025 or beyond. Check out our Before You Upgrade section to learn more about what has changed and the highlights of how to be prepared. For our returning clients, the Helpful Materials section includes recaps of new features to expect in 8.2 by focus area in Costpoint. We’ve followed that section up with a section of quick FAQs. There is going to be a timing difference between the Costpoint 8.2 upgrade and the Business Intelligence (BI) 8.2 upgrade. Those upgrading early will remain on the 8.1 Business Intelligence until early 2024. This means new fields, tables and some features (for example, contract org security as added in 8.2) will not be available in BI immediately upon upgrade. Unless otherwise noted, new 8.2 features will be reflected upon upgrade to 8.2. You can view the two areas we have identified as being delayed on backwards compatibility in the following KB article: [Insert].

You must upgrade to Costpoint 8.1 prior to upgrading to Costpoint 8.2. Pre-requirements for installation are:

Installation Prerequisites:

• CP/TE/BP environment must be at version 8.1 (any 8.1 MR)

• A supported RDBMS version: SQL Server RDBMS 2019, Oracle RDBMS 19c or 21c, Windows OS 2016, 2019 or 2022, Oracle Web Logic Server 14.1.1, Cognos 11.2.4

Deltek is excited to announce the new Costpoint Release Methodology in 2023, which will allow the Costpoint team to deliver minor enhancements and new features faster, while ensuring a higher level of quality and stability. The Long-Term Release is a way for companies to stay on one version longer, with staggered training periods between releases. The Innovative Release is for companies that like to have first access to the latest features and are more nimble with change and training. The Long-Term release was introduced in 2023, with Costpoint 8.1 being the first Long-Term Release and Costpoint 8.2 being the first Innovative Release.
On-premises customers will not have the option to install individual hot fixes since fixes will be packaged together as a cumulative maintenance releases.
New feature releases will be supported through the end of each Long-Term Release; please refer to the Costpoint Support Lifecycle page for official dates by Costpoint version.
The latest version of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge will be compatible with Costpoint 8.2.
If you are currently on Costpoint 8.1, this change is in transition. As soon as you are on Costpoint 8.2, this new feature is the default.
That may be how your administrator set up your privileges, or the training you are on could be a feature behind the training materials available to you. Another option is that you could be using Costpoint Essentials, which is a streamlined solution designed to make projects simple and accessible; this version might differ on some of the advanced functionality. That said, Costpoint Essentials always has the option to scale to advanced functionality as your business grows.
