Glossary

BPM Reference to a Building Product Manufacturer (BPM).
Project Element A reference to an assembly, family, or product type.
Assembly A grouping of a facility's systems or functional elements that serve to organize components and manage the design parameters designated in early design phases. Assemblies have 3 levels, with each level adding additional detail.
Family A traditional 3-part section is being split into two elements - a Family and a Product Type. A Family typically has several Product Types nested underneath it. It contains administrative properties as well as properties that apply across all of its Product Types.
Product Type A traditional 3-part section is being split into two elements - a Family and a Product Type. A Product Type contains product-specific performance properties, characteristics, and product (or material) selections.
Level of Specification (LOS) A complement to Level of Development (LOD) common on graphics, LOS indicates the level of detail required on a given element. This attribute is not often equal to the value determined by BIM teams for their models, but it is agreed upon by project teams and documented within Specpoint.
Project Phases A reference to the AIA Design Phases; Pre-Design through to Facilities Management.
Project Parameters A project's salient attributes that includes Building Type, Construction Type, Contract Type, and Sustainability. These are intelligent attributes that will dictate the base content of a project.
Project Group A vehicle that allows an administrator to organize projects within their account by Type, Sector, Owner, Discipline, or a combination of those.
Permission Levels Each created user is assigned as an Admin, Author, or Reviewer which dictates their accessibility.
Categories Groupings conceptualized from BIM tools that organize assemblies or products/materials within your project.
Project Elements Tree A nested view of a category's assemblies, families, and product types available for selection on a project.
Added to Project Tree A nested view of a category's assemblies, families, and product types selected for a project.
Project Property An instance of content found in an assembly, family, or product type. It may be a sentence or paragraph which describes a requirement. Standard properties are not intelligent, meaning they will be absent on areas such as reports.
Intelligent Project Property A type of content found in an assembly, family, or product type that has a descriptive title with colon followed by a description. Intelligent properties will appear on reports and can be synced with other applications.
Shared Properties A setting available when viewing a Product Type to enable Family properties within the view.
Hidden Properties A setting available when viewing a Family or Product Type to hide properties that were designated as hidden.
Project Notes Notes associated to either the project itself (general note) or to a specific element. Notes detail status, decisions, or comments from reviewers during design evaluation cycles and project development.
Intelligent Product Selection A feature which automates the inclusion and updates of manufacturer products or materials as well as their properties.
Product Listing Dialog The vehicle for adding or removing products or materials within your project. The dialog contains available product listings and their evaluation criteria. While the dialog displays this data in another window, it has a bi-direction relationship with the workspace. In other words, its results are dependent on your location in the workspace. Your product selections will update the elements in the workspace.
Premium Listing An intelligent product listing composed of a manufacturer's general product information, which MasterSpec properties it conforms to, and which elements it's associated to. This information is curated from manufacturers both to automate the inclusion of products and update product libraries.
Proprietary Listing A product listing composed of a manufacturer's proprietary product information and which elements it's associated to. This information is curated from manufactures in order to act as a reference for the inclusion of proprietary products.
Manufacturer Listing The most basic interpretation of manufacturer or a manufacturer's product that has no intelligence within Specpoint.
Autosuggest Filters Filters that allow you to type in a search term. As you do, it will autocomplete or suggest values based on your terms automatically.
Static Filters Filters whose values do not change based on project data.
