The Future of SpecBuilder Cloud FAQ

The information below addresses some of the most frequently asked questions about Deltek's commitment to use the latest in technology to deliver a new intelligent data-driven specification development software.

Last fall, Deltek released Deltek Specpoint, using the latest in technology to deliver a new intelligent data-driven specification development software to the A&E industry. Specpoint is the new home of AIA MasterSpec®, giving you the best in guide specifications, coupled with the latest technology to deliver high quality construction specifications for your projects. To best support Deltek’s specification users, Deltek has made the strategic decision to retire SpecBuilder Cloud by the end of 2025.

Deltek Specpoint is an all-in-one cloud-based design automation tool that is the home of AIA MasterSpec. Specpoint will help architects and engineers reduce risks and improve project outcomes with the combination of its innovative approach to authoring specifications and the industry proven content provided via MasterSpec.

Specpoint is the new home of AIA MasterSpec and is built to improve collaboration and efficiency for developing construction specifications. Here are the top five reasons why your firm should start using Specpoint:

  • Access the most up-to-date AIA MasterSpec content
  • Continually source the most up-to-date product information, including sustainable products
  • Improve team collaboration with a more iterative process
  • Improve efficiency and reduce risk with better quality project manuals
  • Leverage a more modern assembly-based approach for better data driven decisions

We realize you may have projects in progress using SpecBuilder Cloud. We encourage you to complete those projects in SpecBuilder Cloud and start any new projects in Deltek Specpoint. This is the ideal time, as a firm, to strategize how you will roll out Specpoint and make a plan to leverage the Specpoint Customer Assistance Program (CAP) and the Specpoint Onboarding Team to assist with the transition.

As an existing SpecBuilder Cloud user, you have access to Specpoint at no additional charge. You will automatically gain access to Specpoint upon renewal, but if you want to access Specpoint sooner, email the Deltek Specification Solutions Customer Success Team for assistance.

To make the transition to Specpoint as smooth as possible, Deltek has created a number of user-friendly tools and resources to help your users easily create their first projects and specifications with Specpoint. Launched directly from within the Deltek Specpoint application software:

  • Engagements to provide quick insight to new product features and enhancements
  • Tutorials and access to all-inclusive self-serve Specpoint product training videos
  • Comprehensive Specpoint Customer Assistance Program (CAP) with a variety of learning aids and resources
  • Specpoint Onboarding Team to help you transition to Specpoint and assist with starting your first project

With the convergence of specification solutions into one modern and intelligent database driven platform, it is no longer necessary for users to have multiple specification management products. This convergence of solutions allows Deltek to deliver better technology solutions to meet your construction specification needs.

While Deltek will no longer enhance the SpecBuilder Cloud solution, we will continue to support the solution so you can complete your current active projects. As of this FAQ publication, SpecBuilder Cloud will enter into Maintenance Support and then transitions to Sustaining Support effective January 1, 2024. No further product development will occur for SpecBuilder Cloud.

At the time of your annual SpecBuilder Cloud license renewal, you will receive Deltek Specpoint at no additional charge upon renewal. Your Specpoint access will allow you to receive both the MasterSpec updates in the cloud and specification writing/edition tools all as a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution.

Deltek's Customer Care services will be available for SpecBuilder Cloud through the end of 2025.

Specpoint provides the ability to import information at the project-level. The importer will convert content so it’s both usable and intelligent within Specpoint. Product recommendations will be available as long as you retain properties that match up with the MasterSpec properties. Using this feature early on in Specpoint’s lifecycle will provide even more advantages as more features are released in the future. The project-level import feature is currently available and Specpoint will support import of a firm’s custom office masters in a future release.
