Generate Timesheets Screen Reference
Field reference for the Generate Timesheets screen. Lists Parameter ID, Schedule, Period, status, hours, group, and class fields for bulk generation.
The Generate Timesheets screen creates timesheets in bulk for selected employees in the previous, current, or next pay period. Open this screen to bootstrap a period or generate exception-based timesheets with default hours. The screen supports saved Parameter IDs that store the selection set for reuse on later runs.

Go to Time & Expense > Time Utilities > Generate Timesheets. You access the screen from the Time & Expense domain.

Scheduled Job Behavior
When run as a scheduled job, the utility auto-selects timesheet classes whose Mode is Standard and whose Generate Exception Based Timesheets option is selected on the Manage Timesheet Classes screen. Manual runs let you override this default selection.
Parameter ID Reuse
The Parameter ID lets you save the entire screen selection set and recall it later. When you save a record, every selection you made is associated with the Parameter ID. On a later run, you can select the same Parameter ID and the saved values fill the screen as defaults. You can override any default before running. This pattern is useful when the same supervisor generates timesheets for the same set of groups every period.
When a saved Parameter ID is reused, the screen sets the default Period Ending based on the saved choice (Previous, Current, or Next) and the current date. So a Parameter ID that was saved with Period Ending = Current still resolves to the current period when reused weeks or months later, not to the period that was current when the parameter was saved.
Generate with Hours Constraints
The Generate with Hours check box is constrained by the timesheet class configuration. Only timesheet classes whose Generate Exception-Based Timesheets check box is selected on the Manage Timesheet Classes screen can produce timesheets with default hours. When you check Generate with Hours, the timesheet class list filters down to only those eligible classes. When you leave it unchecked, all timesheet classes are listed for selection.
Common Tasks
- Generate Timesheets: Run the utility to create timesheets in bulk for the selected period.
Best Practices
- Save a Parameter ID after a successful run to reuse the same selection on the next period.
- Verify charge favorites and work percentages before generating with hours.
- Generate in Open status when employees still need to enter or confirm hours before signing.
- Coordinate with the team to avoid running while employees actively edit timesheets in the same period.
